The Olympic Story

After her high school teammates bullied her and her college teammates disowned her, nobody thought she would reach her Olympic dreams.

Sherry Winn wasn’t supposed to be an Olympian.

She spent her freshman year on the bench. She navigated a college environment where belonging felt conditional and her own belief in herself was the first thing she had to fight for. There were years — real ones, not glossed over — where the gap between where she was and where she wanted to be felt impossible to close.

She closed it anyway. Twice.

Four years after sitting on that bench, Sherry started in a leadership position on the 1984 U.S. Olympic Team. Four years after that, she was back — 1988, Seoul. Two Olympic Games. The same person who wasn’t supposed to make it once.

What changed between the bench and the podium wasn’t talent. It was the decision to respond differently to every event that said you’re not enough — and to keep making that decision, over and over, until it became the only way she knew how to lead.

That decision is what the Olympic Leadership Method™ is built on. And it’s what she brings into every boardroom, every keynote, and every coaching engagement.

After being fired from her first coaching job, Sherry went on to win a national championship and be named national coach of the year.

After five years of chronic pain so severe she couldn’t walk long enough to buy groceries, she hiked 300 miles.

After a period of severe depression that dismantled everything she thought she knew about herself, she became an award-winning speaker who has stood in front of audiences as large as 14,000 and told the truth about what it actually takes to keep going.

The pattern is the same every time: a real event, a deliberate response, a different outcome. E+R=O — not as a formula she learned, but as a way of living she discovered the hard way and has spent the last decade teaching to leaders who are ready to do the same.
